CHEATERS, LIARS, KILLERS? WHO CARES?!

by Isaac, The World of Isaac

Detroit Free Press: Fab Five's Jalen Rose to be honored at Feb 23. game.

Wait, that doesn't sound right, does it?

If you are a fan of college basketball, well, its downright disgusting. For those not aware of the situation, let me take you on a trip down memory lane.

See, Rose and his cohorts knows as the Fab Five participated in one of the worst scandals in NCAA history. Many of his teammates received in upwards of several hundred thousand dollars by a seedy booster named Ed Martin. UM was forced to vacate their records and take down their final four banners from those years.

And while for years Rose said he never received money, in 2002, he finally fessed up.

"He gave me money before, but it wasn't in excess of — you know — trying to allow me to be rich," Rose said. "You know it was allowing me to have a couple of dollars in my pocket."
Why would a school honor a player who basically sent their basketball program into a tailspin they've yet to recover from.

Who knows?

But it made me think, are other schools going to follow suit?

I can see the headlines now.....

Houston Chronicle: Baylor will honor Carlton Dotson this Saturday

Though he is in jail for killing teammate Patrick Dennehy, Dotson will join the crowd via video teleconference during halftime. He will have his jersey retired during what should be an emotional and historic day for Baylor University

Minneapolis Star Tribune: Clem Haskins to make triumphant return to Minnesota

Fresh off his 7 year probation from NCAA basketball, the University of Minnesota will pay tribute to this great coach and role model. As a token of their appreciation to him, the University will reimburse the $3000 dollars Haskins gave an academic counselor to take tests for players.

Lexington Herald: Kentucky celebrates Eddie Sutton's 800 wins

Kentucky Bourbon will be the drink of choice for this festive occasion as Sutton is honored by his former school. Unfortunately for Sutton, his favorite player Chris Mills will not be in attendance because he couldn't afford a flight in.

Tempe State Press: Its "Shave your head night" at Arizona State

Arizona State is proud to announce the 15th anniversary of Stevin "Hedake" Smith's point shaving incident. Smith is welcomed back with open arms and will receive a free shave in a pre-game ceremony in remembrance of the historic event.
