Mayweather v. Big Show is up next. Interesting sidebar to this--Vince McMahon approached both Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton to throw into the mix and make this a tag team match. Both boxers, obviously, turned down the offer though Hatton and his people were intrigued enough to take some meetings. They're showing the video recap of this "feud" now. It's kind of funny if you know anything about boxing since the promo clips they're showing of Show and Mayweather training are an obvious spoof on "Mayweather/De La Hoya 24/7".
Big Show coming out first to his dreadful entrance music. Rumors are afoot that Fitty Cent is in the house to accompany Mayweather to the ring...Show introduced as "The Biggest Athlete in the World" which is probably news to any number of NBA hoop players not to mention 7'2" Korean kickboxer Hong Man-Choi. Big Show aka Paul Wight is a legit 7'1, while Hong is a legit 7'2". Wight suffered from acromegaly which was the same condition suffered by the late Andre the Giant. Wight has had surgery on his pituitary gland to correct the condition, which Andre refused to have.
Mayweather coming to the ring and they're dropping money on the crowd. Mayweather getting a good heel reaction and wearing his big "Philthy Rich" medalion. Mayweather wearing some baggy trunks that go to damn near his ankles. Size disparity between the two is unreal.
Mayweather moving well in the ring, which isn't exactly a surprise. So far he's not done much put try to evade Show. Obviously this is the kind of match that's put together for the pre-event hype and not to deliver a great in-ring product--Mayweather connects with a couple of body shots followed by a right cross. Mayweather with a nice combination after switching to southpaw stance. Mayweather goes to the corner and one of his cronies brings him a pimp cup and Mayweather takes a sip. Now Show pulls Mayweather's cronie in the ring and wails on him for a moment. Show then catches Mayweather and hoists him to the top turnbuckle. This puts him on even footing and Mayweather responds with a couple of rights. Mayweather now jumps on Show's back and appears to be doing a sleeper hold.
Brief picture freeze and when it returns Show is on offense. Legdrop on the arm, followed by a stomp to the stomach and a head butt. Show with a elbow drop. Mayweather selling pretty well though he's doing a little too much "laying there" and not enough selling. Mayweather's crew pulls him out of the ring and attempts to carry him to the back with Big Show in pursuit. He finally catches Mayweather and pounds on him in the aisle. He drags Mayweather back to the ring--he's having a hard time keeping a smile off his face but is otherwise doing a good job selling the Big Show's offense for a first timer. One of Mayweather's posse interferes but Show intercepts him. Show goes for a chokeslam on Mayweather, but one of Mayweather's boys intervenes with a chair. He gets chokeslammed and now Mayweather goes to work on Big Show with a chair. Mayweather pulls off a glove and pulls out some brass knuckles. He clocks him with a brass knuckle sandwich--Show valiantly tries to get to his feet but gets counted out. Winner of the match is Floyd Mayweather, Jr. by KO. This explains why they went out of their way to remind us that this is "no DQ". Probably as good of a finish as they could do under the circumstances--Show gets in his offense, Mayweather needs his posse and some weapons to do it but he goes over. Not much wrestling offense by Mayweather, but he did a reasonably good job taking Show's offense. It was what it was I guess...

The big dude in Mayweather's entourage that ended up taking most of the Big Show offense was actually a "plant". He's a pro wrestler under a WWE developmental contract named Charles "The Hammer" Evans.
