TOP 11 REASONS WHY THE OLYMPICS ACTUALLY CRAVE CONTROVERSY

by DMtShooter, Five Tool Tool

Eighty-five percent of Americans don't think politics has any place in the Olympic Games and 82% don't think Olympic sponsors ought to be boycotted, according to a recent survey of 500 Americans commissioned by Advertising Age.
Seriously, 85% are missing the fact that without politics, the Olympics doesn't even exist? I suppose they also believe in True Amateurism, the veracity of the judging, and the existence of angelic rabbits that somehow tie together chocolate eggs with the redemption of souls...

11. The video where someone uses the Olympic torch to set fire to a protester is going to totally dominate YouTube

10. Without the free PR, it's basically a track and field contest with flags taking a greater priority than sports company logos

9. Harding v. Kerrigan is still the only thing most people remember about the event in the past 20 years

8. Spectacular athletic moments aren't nearly as easy to predict and schedule as patriotic chest-pounding

7. Gives even more nations an excuse to hate and boycott the French

6. Lets Americans feel morally superior to other nations that use pre-emptive force to benefit their corporate interests

5. Adds to the pool of people and companies looking to bribe IOC officials

4. Fun to mock advertisers who pull out as just Lacking The Balls

3. Ever since the end of the Cold War, event has lacked a real Good v. Evil medal count theme

2. Only way to shut those X-Games punks up

1. Worked out so well in 1936 with Hitler, 1972 with murders, and 2008 with athletes dropping dead from rocket attack (spoiler alert!)
