Dear John Paxson,
Hey John I how have you been. I just want to tell you that I came out of our interview thinking that we could do absolutely great things. And I want to reiterate that I'm the man for the job.
You know what is the best part of my candidacy? I'm exactly the person Derrick Rose needs as a mentor to flourish in the NBA. Derrick Rose is a premium talent, he could become a superstar with the right tutelage and I'm the man for the job. Just think about it, we both come from an inner city. We both would be drafted by the team playing in that inner city. Did I make mistakes my first few years with the Knicks? Sure, but I can guide him to avoid those mistakes. I will be able to relate to his experiences unlike any other coaching candidate out there.
If you want someone to teach a point guard how to get the most out of his ability then look no further. I'm a shrimp, I can't jump, I can't run, I can barely shoot but I stuck around the league for almost 20 years. I'm 2nd all time in total assists. Derrick Rose could be so much better than me all he needs to do is take his talent and utilize the most of it. Just like I did in my career. If he could do that he could certainly top me on that all time list.
And if you're for a second thinking that Avery Johnson would work just as well but he has experience, well you're not right. Avery Johnson is a little dictator. Have you seen how turned off his players got towards him last year? He won't be able to relate to Derrick, he'll turn him into Stephon Marbury, a sully annoying player. And you don't want that.
I'm your man. Give me the call.
#2 All Time Assist Man,
Mark Jackson
