The Tampa Bay Rays are in first place, and its not a fluke. They have what it takes to be on top: pitching and good young players. Here is how I see it, the Rays offense is good but not great. They have the ability to put up 3-4 runs per game. Thats plenty for the 4 good starting pitchers they have. (Shields, Garza, Kazmir, and Sonnanstine) If the Rays can hold on and make the playoffs, they will be very hard to beat in a series because of their staff.
With a .614 winning percentage, they are 2nd best in baseball and best in the AL. Ahead of the Sox and Yanks in their division. I love it! Now I have always been and will be a die hard Atlanta Braves fan but living in Tampa, you have to catch on to the Rays fever. I have been saying they will be good, it just took a couple years to develop the young talent they are now showing off. Wake up baseball fans, The Rays are on the map...and not just a small dot.
