OFFSEASON SCORE: MIKE BROWN 3, BUNGLES 0

by Gibbs12, YepYep

Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown has always been an easy target for Bengals fans not satisfied with 8-8 seasons after a decade of being the laughingstock of the league. This offseason, Brown has not only shown Bengal Nation, but the entire league that he run it and ain’t takin’ no mo nonsense.

Here’s how:

WHAT MIKE BROWN DID: Cut Chris Henry
WHAT HAPPENED: Henry is awaiting trial for assault, claims he’s “willing to visit anyone that’s interested” (no one is), doesn’t pay his mortgage, understands why Roger Goodell doesn’t want West Virginia players in the NFL.
SCORE: MIKE BROWN 1, BUNGLES 0

WHAT MIKE BROWN DID: Cut Odell Thurman
WHAT HAPPENED: Thurman’s camp cries foul, Thurman plans to visit other teams, Thurman fails another drug test.
SCORE: MIKE BROWN 2, BUNGLES 0

WHAT MIKE BROWN DID: Stood up to Chad Johnson and all of his antics/threats/demands to be traded
WHAT HAPPENED: Johnson vows to sit out the 2008 season, demands to be traded, has Drew Rosenhaus plead his case on YouTube, forgets to pay taxes, displays questionable acting skills, goes on personal PR campaign during draft week, doesn’t get traded, changes course and says he’ll show up to all mandatory team activities.
SCORE: MIKE BROWN 3, BUNGLES 0

So a few (talented) cancers are gone and one is still hanging around. What does this mean for 2008? Probably no playoffs due to a lack of defense or true locker room leader.

Mike Brown has, however, shown that he’s no longer a pushover and hopefully set the precedent for other owners when it comes to players thinking contracts don’t apply to them.

Who Dey?
