TOP 10 SPORTS OPINIONS THAT YOU WILL NOT HEAR ON TELEVISION

by DMtShooter, Five Tool Tool

10. Aaron Rodgers is better than Brett Favre

9. The fact that a WNBA team has hired a 50-year-old player does not say good things about the competitive level of the league

8. If some employer offered you ridiculous money to go to Europe, you'd go too

7. Unless a minor league team is having a brawl, manager meltdown, or topical publicity gag, no one gives a damn about anything they do

6. Mark Cuban has never won anything of consequence, whines like a spoiled child over any loss, and would in no way be perfect for the Cubs

5. Many people in the United States would be happier if Team USA lost in basketball, because they just hate the NBA and/or black people

4. The Baseball Hall of Fame's posthumous induction of Buck O'Neill just underscores how much the Hall of Fame sucks

3. If Barry Bonds ever plays baseball again, he won't be very good

2. 99% of the people who are watching footage of people running with the bulls are rooting for the bulls to crush as many people as possible

1. New stadium projects are almost always unnecessary at best, and rank corporate theft at worst... and they are aided and abetted by coddling the media in swankier rooms

What about those of us who would be happier if Team USA lost in basketball because we hate Mike Krzyzewski?

Sadly, for those who see such things as omens, in China this is the Year of the Rat.

I agree with this list, especially number 5. All USA sports fans should be pumped to win the gold in hoops and super pissed if we do not but no one will care and say we deserve to lose because they are spoiled. It has happened the last 3 major international contests. I am sure race plays a factor.

As for number 10, your anti Packers/Favre bias is on full display. What are you basing that Rodgers is better than Favre? Rodgers play for Cal? Rodgers has played in 2 games and broke bones in each game. Favre was 2nd in the MVP balloting last season.

Rip Favre all you want but to assert that Rodgers is better than Favre based on one good half vs the Cowboys is quite foolish.

Well, it won't come as a big surprise to say that I don't agree with the MVP voting last year, either...

I should have elaborated more on this. The simple fact is that Packer QB 2007 was one of the best situations in the game, and being a good QB is all about the situation. You've got an exceptional offensive line, and have had one forever -- witness Favre's consecutive games streak in the first place. You've got an outstanding young RB in Grant. You've got a great WR tandem in Jennings and Driver. Donald Lee is a top 10 TE. Your defense is opportunistic and stingy. You played in a pretty weak division, and your homefield advantage is outstanding. Favre stood on the shoulders of giants, while everyone gave him the credit, not the organization.

Then, what did The Legend do? Crapped the bed in the playoffs, and threw the picks that ended their season. Again. I don't know why it's so hard for anyone to say this without being pilloried for being Just A Four Hater; it's kind of like saying that Hilary Clinton isn't the Democratic nominee because she voted the wrong way on Iraq. The truth is a harsh thing.

Will Rodgers have a better career? Of course not. Can he win games for you that you shouldn't, the way Favre did in his heyday? No chance. But that's not who Favre is right now, and you can only win games right now. If the Packers are smart, and they've been during this entire episode, they'll move him out of the conference, and he'll fail in a place where his true performance level won't be masked by his team.

All of which doesn't really fit into a list.

Rodgers may be the better QB, but Peter King just can't get lost in his eyes like he can with his Bretty Boy.

I am in the tank for all things Favre but I do not ignore the realities of the Packers on the field play. With the NFL ticket, I have not missed a play of the Packers in years.

In 2007, Favre shredded the Giants in week 2, his OT bomb on Monday night won the game vs the Broncos, his TD pass over the Chiefs sealed the victory, and his stellar play won the road against Minnesota. Those are just off the top of my head.

Maybe he was not the 2nd best player in the league but you have to admit Favre play was top 5-10 QBs in the NFL last season.

Leaving the retiring circus aside, if I did not think Favre still had it, I would not be arguing the Packers are a better squad with him than without him.

As for "crapping the playoffs," it seems like you are ignoring the Seahawks game and the 14-0 hole he led the Packers out of to win that game.

Favre did not play well in negative 30 degree weather and his OT pass was ill advised. It took me weeks to get over that game. The Packers D had no answer for Plaxico and the Giants were the better overall team that day.

The jury is out on Rodgers and he displayed one in half that he could be good but the QB position in the NFL is a complete crap shoot.

I just hope Rodgers can stay healthy and the Packers are not rolling with rookie QB Brian Brohm in week 7.

I do agree the ESPN Favre updates are complete overkill.
