I turn on the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays game on Tuesday in which the Red Sox could take the lead in the AL East. The lineups come up on the screen and I recognize that David Ortiz has decided to take the day off. This is the biggest game of the season for the Sox as they are competing for a divisional title.
We all heard about the stories about Manny Ramirez taking off games with the Red Sox especially important games against divisional rivals. Ortiz is pulling the same stuff as this is a huge series for the BoSox and this one game could be the difference between finishing in first place or as the Wild Card leader.
Do you think Ortiz has quit on the BoSox since he could not start the game tonight for no apparent reason besides the fact that he didn't want to face Tampa Bay ace Scott Kazmir who has been tough on lefties this season. I say BIG DEAL and get in the lineup maybe your bat could have made a difference in a 5-4 ninth inning loss. Do you think they could have used Ortiz's bat in the lineup? I think so and if Ortiz can't hit against a strong lefty like Kazmir then he should get out of town just like Manny. No one will call out Ortiz for bailing out of the lineup besides myself as Ortiz is a "Good Guy" in the clubhouse who also doesn't run out groundballs which was one of the reasons the Sox got rid of the great Ramirez.

Speaking as a Saxw Hater, I'd love to see them lose Ortiz. I'm sure Yankee Fan would be all in favor of the move, too. Get a grip.
Oritz was given some time off to rest his injured wrist, he came in to pinch hit and stayed in the game for two AB's.
