Please John Lackey Shut Up!!

by Brian P. Foley, The College Baseball Blog

I came across this quote from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim ace pitcher John Lackey where he said the following:

"We lost to a team that's not better than us, We are a better team than they are. The last two days, we shouldn't have given up anything."

He continued on by saying "[Sunday] night they scored three runs on a pop fly that was called a hit, which was a joke," Lackey said, referring to Ellsbury's pop that fell between center fielder Torii Hunter and second baseman Howie Kendrick in Game 3.

"[Monday] night they scored on a broken-bat ground ball and a fly ball that anywhere else in America is an out, and he's fist-pumping on second base like he did something great."
Come on, John are you really serious? You were six outs away from being shutout on Monday night giving you your second loss in the serious. You only got off the hook because Jason Varitek and Justin Masterson couldn't get on the same page which almost took out umpire Ed Rapuano giving the Angels two runners in scoring position. The Angels Torii Hunter was able to come through to tie up the game. The Angels screwed up a suicide bunt with one out in the ninth. The Red Sox were able to capitalize on a one out double by Jason Bay in the bottom of the ninth to win the game and the series.

Does that make the Red Sox a lucky team? They took advantage of the mistakes that the Angels made in the field and won the series. The Red Sox are the BETTER team because they won the series in four games. They nearly swept the Angels blowing a ton of chances in the extra inning Game 3.

Do you think Lackey's comments are warranted?
