Edinson Volquez finished 4th in NL ROY voting?

by DCScrap, on 205th magazine

Way to go Major League Baseball. You are such a sharp group of guys. Bad enough that some of the people who cover your sport and HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF VOTING ON AWARDS don't even know the rules for what constitutes a "Rookie", but then your crack PR staff sends out the results with THOSE VOTES COUNTED right there in black and white.

One would think that the fact that Volquez pitched in 22 games over the last three years would have been the first clue that he wasn't a rookie, but then again, this is Major League Baseball.

I have it on a good authority that James Loney also received a 3rd place vote, despite playing a full season last year.

4 votes for Fukudome. Good lord, find those people and take their credentials.

The rookie crop has been devalued in recent years due to the August and September callups. I wouldn't consider Jacoby Ellsbury a rookie this year because he had significant playing time in last year's playoffs.

Yeah it's an absolute joke. How the hell are they allowed to count these votes?

The only idiots are you guys who don't know the rules.

Determining rookie status:
A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit.

He has done neither, so you guys are idiots just as i expected.

Hey shit for brains... see that graphic in the post where it lists his stats? Add up the innings pitched in the three years before this one. Not to mention the fact that MLB admitted they made a mistake. Suck on that.
