I was watching the Texas vs Texas Tech game over the weekend when I recognized that Graham Harrell has no chance of making the NFL because he plays in a gimmick offense. Is this really true though?
Texas Tech runs an offense that has thrown the ball over 45 times this year in seven out of the nine games that the Red Raiders have played. They have scored 35 or more points in every game this season with a season high of 58 at Kansas State.
Why do the NFL pundits think that Harrell is not going to make it? Is it because of the fact that his arm strength isn't strong enough or something else?
I don't get the reason why they consider the Texas Tech offense a gimmick when Florida runs a total gimmick offense which is based on running the football with the quarterback then throwing off of that. What happened to the last QB in the Urban Meyer system? Yes, Alex Smith was selected with the first overall pick in the 2005 draft and will likely be cut during the off season.
Why do you think QB's in pass happy college systems are constantly overlooked? It isn't that difficult to learn to hand the ball off.
