Why was Jay-Z on the Yankees' parade bus?

I finally got around to paying a little attention to the Yankees' parade celebrating their, ugh, latest championship and noticed Jay-Z was on the bus along with all the Yankees. Is he an owner of the Yankees and I just missed that fact? Did they sign him to a baseball contract? What was he doing on there? By the way, nice hat, A-Rod... tool...
