Yeah, I'd definitely say 8-8 is the absolute ceiling for the Lions this year. I almost want them to have another horrible year so they have a shot at Brian Brohm. Yet, at the same time I'd like them to fall in the middle fo the first round for once and stick to drafting defense.

Also, if Martz isn't the head coach he'll be gone.

I like to think of the notion of 8-8. Very valid points about just how shitty that O-LINE is, that is going to be the determining factor in a lot of things for the Lions this season.

BD, I agree totally with your assessment of the Lions' chances. No way they avoid another double digit loss season. Well, if EVERYTHING goes right, and I mean EVERYTHING, 8 wins is in the realm of possibility. A fluky, bizarre, WTF kind of possibility.

The offense will score points, but the defense will allow even more. Seeing Carson Palmer pick apart the d-backfield in the 1st exhibition will be a recurring theme for the entire season.

But the Lions will be exciting to watch, if only because they will have to pass damn near every down, as they won't be able to run the ball. If Kitna's healthy, he's throwing for 4500 yards, and Furrey, Williams and Johnson will have huge seasons. On the down side, Kitna's a turnover machine, and will have just as many turnovers as TD's.

And I've spent many a drunken day at the Silverdome and Ford Field bitching that the best the Lions can do is that fucking "Roary" furry mascot thing roaming the sidelines, rather than cheerleaders.
