Although I think it's more likely that the Giants suck ass, meaning that ESPN only wants to air their games when a) Timmy Linc is pitching and b) when they have day games out in San Fran, meaning Barry is much less likely to play, particularly if there was a game the night before.

The first one you mention was a Sunday Night Baseball game - Timmy's major league debut against Cole Hamels. Not only is Hamels a lefty, but Sunday is a pretty standard resting day for a lot of major leaguers.

The second game was against the Mets and Oliver Perez, not surprisingly a left hander. And according to the game recap(the link you provided), "Bonds did not start, as expected."

The Home Run Derby is just silly. Barry's old. Besides, Bonds did an interview with Peter Gammons on ESPN during the middle of the Home Run Derby. Also, ESPN is HAWKING him on the "Chasing Aaron" bottom line thing, so its not like their trying to distance themselves or anything.

The fourth game, last night was against the Chicago Cubs and against Rich Hill, who.......is a left hander.

Isn't it more likely that Barry's rest days are on a reasonably set schedule which happens to coincide with Timmy Lincecum's pitching days? Which happen to be picked up by ESPN because he's nasty? Or that Bochy makes sure to sit him against lefties?
